I’m old enough to remember a time when finding out your car’s battery died meant you would be stranded for hours and probably have a long walk ahead of you. The invention of the cell phone made that less of an issue, but the real savior in this scenario is portable batteries. And this one from Noco is the one I can’t live without. For Prime Day, it’s down to about $80 from its original price of $125.
This little gizmo packs a 1000A 12V battery, which is capable of jumping your car when it won’t start. It comes with a special jumper cable attachment that plugs directly into it, and has a short length of cable to go to your car’s battery terminals. The whole package is so small that it can fit under a seat, or even in your glove box if it’s roomy enough.
On top of that, it also has a built in flashlight and USB ports you can use to charge your phone. I keep a lot of emergency tools in my car, but this is the one I’ve needed to turn to more than any other. It’s an absolute lifesaver if you or a loved one ever find yourself without power. Just keep in mind that this is good for jumping your car, but you should still make sure your car’s battery (and alternator) are in good working order afterwards.
I’ve bought this model for myself at least three times, mostly because I’ve lent them out to friends who were having car trouble. It’s such a small price to pay for peace of mind.
